Doc Bud Tidbits

These are just interesting tidbits that I have collected regarding Doc Bud's High Brix. It is intended solely to help me with some pointers. If you find it useful, more power to you.

Optimal temps without Co2
66-70 night 78-80 day
Optimal rH:
40-50% night 50-60% day.
If your room is hot: like above 82....higher rH is helpful.
If your room is cool, lower rH is better.

cool room+high rH=PM
Hot room+ low rH=stressed plants and mites.

For High Brix purposes a seven gallon pot is one square foot. One kit is designed for 32 square feet/6 plants

Tea is used with every drench

Transplant is added at 1/4 oz for all waterings, except when we actually transplant, at which time we use Transplant like a normal drench.

When in doubt, use Growth Energy.

Plants in 7g pots usually get 3ml drench.

Each plant should get half a gal and 5ml of drench. I do mine at a gallon and 5ml cause they need more water then just half a gal when top watering.

Give pure water between drenches. No tea in the water. Doc says he has best results drenching every other watering. I usually do a light water and a heavier water between drenches. Drenches are 8- 14 days apart. Always tea with drench, no tea with water.

Only back to back drench is the cat drenches weeks 4-5. I still usually light water between.

1/4 transplant is optional and with every watering or drench and only during bloom. But the same rules apply for tea. No tea with water.

Trans - water - Energy - water - Trans - etc.

I've been alternating energy+1/4 trans, water + 1/4 transplant, water + 1/4 transplant, Energy + 1/4 transplant

1 ounce is 30 mils
1 gallon is 128 ounces which is 4 quarts
Divide by 6 for drench #s
.5 oz =15 mils divided by 6 is 2.5 mils per plant with drenches
Rule of thumb I use for sprays is 1 mil per ounce of water brix or destress
.25 oz = 7.5 mils divided by 6 is 1.25 mils per plant with transplant
You can adjust after you know what strains like what and how much.

The initial watering after planting is 1/4 strength Transplant. Then you could do nothing but water a couple times....first actual drench would be Growth Energy. 5 sets of leaves is a good starting point for both drenches and foliars.

For at the end: MIx up the normal amount of Growth Energy and add to it 1/2 ounce Transplant per gallon. I wasn't very clear there. You'll keep it green and growing that way. Add 10 mil tea to that too.

Benchmark dosages:
1 Gallon pot = 0.5-1.0 ml Drench, 0.05-0.1 ml Tea
7 Gallon pot = 3-7 ml Drench, 0.3-0.7 ml Tea
10 Gallon pot = 5-10 ml Drench, 0.5-1.0 ml Tea

SEEDLING: Water > Water > Water > Water > Water

VEG: Water > 1/2oz Growth Energy (+tea) > Water > 1/2oz Growth Energy (+tea) > Water ... Brix and Destress once a week, on different days.

STRETCH: Water > 1/2oz Growth Energy (+tea) > Water > 1/2oz Growth Energy (+tea) > Water ... Brix and Destress once a week, on different days.

ONCE BUDS HAVE SET: 1/2oz Cat Drench (+tea) > 1/2oz Cat Drench (+tea) > Water > 1/2oz Transplant (+tea) > Water ... Brix and Destress once a week, on different days.

UNTIL HARVEST: Water > 1/2oz Growth Energy (+tea) > Water > 1/2oz Transplant (+tea) > Water > 1/2oz Growth Energy (+tea) > Water > 1/2oz Transplant (+tea) ... Brix and Destress once a week, on different days.

Add 1/4 strength Transplant to each and every watering. The only time not to add 1/4 strength Transplant is during Cat Drench, as Cat Drench already has TP in it.

How to get females from regular seeds

Avoid all stress! The first 72 hours and ESPECIALLY the first 24 hours after germination determine sex. Stress favors males, happiness females.

Sources of stress:

1. handling the roots. don't use the paper towell method
2. temps too high, rh too low
3. soil too hot
4. not enough light

So, here's my method

1. Room temps in the low to mid 70's
2. Rh about 60%
3. High Brix soil, with Roots! added to the hole you'll put the seed
4. BRIGHT light over the seedling. When I say bright I mean like a T5 one inch above the seedling, or an LED putting out a similar amount of light.
5. soak seeds in water for 12-24 hours, DO NOT LET THEM CRACK OPEN IN THE WATER
6. Plant. Moisten. Wait.

You won't get 100% females doing this usually, although I have. I have also gotten males from "femmed" seeds so nothing is perfect, but using this method you'll have healthy seedlings that are more often than not females.

Don't try to give them the most minimal drench you can pencil out using complicated formulas and ideas about soil volume, etc. For those, I'd take 2 gallons of water in some type of tub so that the water level is half to 2/3 as high as the soil level, add 2 mils of Tea, 1/8 oz Transplant and 1/4 oz of whatever drench you're using (GE or Transplant).

Dunk them if you can. Water from the top and bottom with them sitting in a slightly bigger pot or ??? so they can soak well from the bottom. Leave them for a few minutes so they are completely drenched. Then remove and tip them from side to side to drain off a little.
