no roots, dieing and mushy tips on clons???? help

we accidently put gel and that olivias cloning solontion in the water i dont know if it is eating the clippings and now its made them unable to make roots. ive tryed to cut the clippings again and place them in there and ive sprayed them with spired mite stuff which they still came back. im using a hydo clonner not soil which my b.f wanted to i perfered the soil. although this is our first time clonning. im scared that we wasted 50 bucks on clons and they are going to die which sucks. they seem in good shape until you look at the root system which there is none. i mean what is the stages we even bought the recipe for sucess kit and this ph stick which may not be working everything says 7. i thought this would be a easy thing to do our other plant is doing great but waant a clon we bought it after that. what is making these things not sprout and get mushy on some and dye. some turn blueish. we thought of just taking the water out of the medium and redoing it when should we really know oh my gosh we gotta do something now. it hasnt been a week. but we should be seeing roots. please help we r new to this and we thought we did everything right but i guess not at first they would have a brownish look to the end and now they some i mean have spots of the brownish i clipped the brown off the bottom of the clippings. i feel like their is something missing
