Personal Scrog

Hello today I am going to cover my personal screens and how I made them what with and where I got the materials. Feel free to use what you like though.

I have seen a few people here and there who use metal premade for their screens and those do work but you wont be able to adjust the height of the screen. With my simple to make screen you can adjust the height of the screen as well as the crossing sections that you will later be funneling your tops through.

These items can be purchased at home depot and or walmart with the main wooden component as the frame of the screen at a hobby lobby or other similar store. The wooden frame is the same frame people use to crochet with it holds their pattern. It is circular and resembles a tambourine missing all of its parts but the frame. This was under 2.00 where I am at the prices may fluctuate depending on location but I cant imagine by much.

Next after you buy as many of these wooden frames as you like comes the cross section. You can make this as tight or as flexible as you would like. I try to draw my line pretty tight for better support but not so tight as I want to be able to reposition it if need be.

The cross section is made out of electrical wire. It has a colored plastic coating and it is bendable but sturdy. I found walmart has the more sturdy wire it is blue in my screens but your walmart might have different colors.

Home depot also has the wire but it is thinner and is not as sturdy but it is spooled vs the walmart kind which is held in a coil by twisty ties.

Next you want to have the supports that will hold the screen. Depending on the height you have to work with you can go with varying lengths but I use dow rods 1 on each corner.

Last I use yarn to secure the screen to the dow rods. The dow rods I used are 3 feet long and I cut them to the length I need as I dont have to much clearance to the lighting fixtures. the yarn allows me to move the screen up and down the dow rods as the plants grow with no hassle.

The total cost of the screen I made is under 5.00 per screen with the most expensive of the items being the dowel rods but as I said if you can think of something else you would want to use then please do.

Take the frame in your hand and take the length of wire you will need and stretch it across the screen with a slack of about 2 inches. You take the slack and wrap it around the frame to draw the wire tight. I made mine 4 squares by 4 squares but you certainly can go a lot smaller. Each wire you want to weave it above one then below the next in a grid pattern and secure it the same way as explained earlier. Once you have the screens made I then take the dowel rods and tie the screen to it with the yarn diagonally so this way the yarn acts as a securing device and a track to move the screen up or down on the dowel rods. Once that is done I secure the screen in place by inserting each dowel rod into the soil until the dowel rod is touching the bottom of the container. The soil will secure it in place so it wont just fall over. After this is all set in place cut the dowel rod to desired length or you can leave it if you have the height clearance in your grow room or tent. There you have it each plant now has their own personal screen for as many as you feel like making. If this helps you then great dont forget to sub to my journal and give reps if you feel I have helped.
