Been doing some research on this and yes you are right about the lime.
Lime raises ph but can burn roots so it must be added slowly which can take months to raise depending on how far it needs to go.
Wood ash also does the trick but needs to be mixed into soil before...
Ok so I found out if soil pH is low adding proper ph water will not change it. Adding a tablespoon of baking soda to a gallon of regular water will raise soil pH.
