Ak-47 & Z99 Clone Attempt

8/8/24 took cuttings from my outdoor grow. Cut at 45 degree angle.
I took 2 each of Ak-47 and Z99.
I put them in water mixed with kelp and Aloe
I then put one of each in a rockwool cube and in a peat plug.
I soaked these first in the water mixture above then squeezed them out a bit.
I used powdered rooting hormone.
I heated water mixed w Aloe and kelp in the bottom of a seed starter tray with a fluorescent bulb and plastic dome.
This was just an experiment to see if I could root them.
I tried recently with rockwool in a zip lock bag and they dampened off.
In my first attempt at cloning I got 3/4 to root and killed off the other one, but it took me nearly 3 weeks… Still a success.
I'll see how I do with this go around.

This morning I noticed they were droopy. Humidity was 90%. I emptied water and refilled with warm water and got humidity back up. I did a light spraying of the leaves. Not sure I should have done that. I'll see how they are doing when I get home

8/12 more defoliation some mold. Droopy leaves dry. Sprayed
8/12 outdoor mother plants just began to flower and are huge so I took four more clones, all in Rockwool
8/14. Noticed some dampening off of leaves
Some yellowing as well, especially those closest to the light. Maybe too much photosynthesis without nutrients
added light nutrients to foliar spray along with 1/3 volume of hydrogen peroxide to help battle fungus .
Changed out water
Temperature is around 78° humidity between 85 and 99%
Defoliation of infected leaves.
Trying to keep water just off of bottom of cubes
Probably will purchase Grodan rack

I Used 6 screws to raise tray out of water. I noticed cubes and especially peat plugs very saturated. Likely from wicking of water touching bottom of cubes.
Peat plugs very difficult to remove from holders worry that I damage roots while checking
Probably will purchase Grodan rack
8/24 all plugs were somewhat dry and I added some water and sprayed
8/26 am Pear pods were the winner. They are a bit harder to handle and get stuck in cloning tray compartments but they both have roots and the rockwool doesnt. I planted an ak-47 and a z99 in a 1 gallon pot. I ditched the screws in the bottom they started to rust. I put plastic covers below cloning tray to keep water from wicking into medium. I will keep experiment going and see how long it takes for roots in rock wool.

8/27 One of the AK-47s looked real good and started showing roots so I planted that one too. One of the AK-47s look like it was dying so I put it out of its misery. I think the rockwool was pretty dry
