AMMA SENDS STAFF AND SPEAKERS TO HELP WITH L.A. SHADOW CONVENTION

LOS ANGELES -- After voicing strong objections to the the involvement of
medical marijuana patients with the Shadow Convention, the American Medical
Marijuana Association (AMMA) has reached an agreement with convention
organizers.

In a sharply worded letter to Ethan Nadelmann, AMMA National Director Steve
Kubby indicated their objections to participating in any events which seeks
only to "explain, defend or justify medical marijuana."

"That issue has already been decided by the voters," said Kubby. "Instead,
AMMA wants all medical marijuana events to focus on the failure of police
and prosecutors to uphold or obey the law. There is no problem with
marijuana or the Compassionate Use Act, the problem is law enforcement and
we want that made clear whenever medical marijuana is discussed," said
Kubby.

To their credit, the Shadow Convention organizers have agreed to these
concerns and have also agreed to feature some top speakers from the AMMA
organization including Jeff Jones, Ann McCormick, Anna Boyce, and Robert
Raich. (Final arrangements still need to be made, so none of these speakers
are for certain.)

AMMA is sending some of their top staff to help out at the Shadow
Convention. For example, AMMA Director Doug Scribner, who recently won the
highest award in political advertising, a "Pollie" for his South Park Parody
TV commercial will be at the convention to help as needed. Andy Kinnon,
AMMA's So Cal Regional Director and president of a trade union, will be
there. AMMA Communications Director, Rick Root will also attend.

The L.A. Shadow Convention starts on Tuesday August 15 at Patriotic Hall,
1816 Figueroa St. in Los Angeles.
