Cannabis And Medical Marijuana Wins In 2012

The voters in Massachusetts have spoken, and they have said yes to medical marijuana for patients in need. Also legal marijuana wins in two states for all uses.

One by one America is sending the message to the federal government that we the people want a common sense approach to cannabis and medical marijuana. This past election scored some big wins for marijuana legalization in the U.S.

Voters in both Washington and Colorado have passed a bill which would allow adults over the age of 21 to possess and use marijuana for not only medical purposes but for recreational use as well. However the federal government and DEA has sent out warnings that they will not (regardless of what the people want) recognize the law, and will continue arrests for selling cannabis and cannabis related products, which of course is a crime within it's self.

Residents have been warned in these states that there's still some road ahead that needs to be walked before everyone starts firing up those joints. It is expected that these new measures will be challenged legally, so voters may not be completely out of the water just yet.

"This is just the beginning of the legalization conversation, so my advice to people who want to toke up legally or think that they can buy marijuana at a store tomorrow is that we're a very long way from that," said Kevin Sabet, a former senior adviser to the Obama administration.

But the message has been sent either way, Americans want marijuana regardless, and the fed is hearing it loud and clear.

In addition, voters in the state of Massachusetts have approved medical marijuana for approved patients. The measure won an incredible 63% for, to only 37% against, making Massachusetts the happy new addition to the medical marijuana states.

Those whom suffer with debilitating diseases such as cancer, hepatitis C, Parkinson's disease, Lou Gehrig's disease, glaucoma, HIV, AIDS, Crohn's disease and multiple sclerosis will be able to use cannabis to treat their conditions. There has not been a set weight amount as of yet, but the state's Department of Public Health will have an answer before the law is enacted. For now, approved patients are allowed a 60-day supply of marijuana for personal medical use.

Let us keep up the good fight for common sense marijuana and hemp laws.
