Cannabis Cafe to Reopen at New Location

Oregon's cannabis café will light up once again this Saturday, July 31 when Oregon NORML reopens its medical marijuana joint in Southeast Portland.

After first opening last November at 700 NE Dekum St., the original café closed this May due to problems with the space's owner.

Madeline Martinez, executive director for Oregon NORML and co-founder of the café, said this afternoon that organizers are excited to resume their services.

did not immediately return calls this morning requesting comment. She also said in a press release that the cafe's new location will better serve the community.

"We're trying to teach people about the wonders of marijuana in its entirety," Martinez said. "It's a learning place. Our mission is to educate people."

The café will be open only to registered users of the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program who are also members of Oregon NORML. And it will require customers to pay both a $5 entrance fee and dues of $20 per month.

The café reopens July 31 at 4:20 pm at 322 SE 82nd Ave
