A legal cannabis oil with a host of celebrity fans is relieving multiple sclerosis (MS) sufferers of their agonising pain.

Founded by billionaire Coca-Cola heir Alki David, who is better known for partying with the likes of Charlie Sheen, SwissX contains cannabidiol (CBD), which is the same compound found in cannabis.

Yet, unlike marijuana, the organic oil blend does not contain the ingredient that is responsible for hallucinations and psychotic episodes in some weed users.

TV personality and honorary Kardashian Scott Disick is also a fan, telling MailOnline: 'I really like SwissX. It's a good organic health product that helps me to properly relax.'

Rapper Snoop Dogg posted a video on his Instagram account just a few days ago singing SwissX's praises.

And fashion designer Donatella Versace is also a fan, reportedly buying four SwissX chocolates in July.

US blogger and MS sufferer Nik Richie also told MailOnline: 'Knowing that in seven years I'd be in a wheelchair for the rest of my life was traumatic. The oil has changed all of that, I feel like I actively live without the disease now.'

Alki said: 'Every day I get to see [how] different types of people have their lives changed by this oil, the whole experience has given me joy.

'Cancer sufferers, people in constant pain, the elderly battling with arthritis, people who are trying to cope with severe PTSD who have given their lives for our country, so many good people seem to benefit.

'The anti-inflammatory properties excite me the most, we are just starting to understand the full relationship between inflammation and cancer, plus many other diseases.'

SwissX even has celebrity fans.

Posting on his Instagram account just a few days ago, Snoop Dogg praised SwissX chocolate, which is made up of 57 per cent CBD.

He said: 'SwissX.com chocolate, for relaxation, get you some.'

TV personality Scott Disick also uses the oil, saying: 'I really like SwissX. It's a good organic health product that helps me to properly relax.'

And fashion designer Donatella Versace reportedly bought four SwissX chocolates back in July, according to the product's Instagram account.

Nik Richie told MailOnline: 'Life was a living nightmare, I was a young man who had turned into an old man.

'My hands were in fists, I couldn't use them. My legs would regularly give in, my feet would regularly fall asleep, it felt like a million ants were crawling inside them.

'Getting diagnosed at 38 years of age with MS is devastating. The psychological impact was almost as bad as the physical pain. I was depressed and suicidal.

'Knowing that in seven years I'd be in a wheelchair for the rest of my life was traumatic. The oil has changed all of that, I feel like I actively live without the disease now.'

SwissX is even used after surgery in some US clinics.

Dr Garo Kassabian, who operates in Beverly Hills, told MailOnline: 'I had first-hand experience with my mom when she was going through a lot of pain after they discovered a fracture in her spine.

'She couldn't tolerate narcotics, so we had her try the SwissX - it not only relieved her pain but also allowed her to sleep and feel comfortable for the first time.

'After seeing the difference it made, I decided to bring it into my practice for my patients. It is ideal for those that experience anxiety from needles; I also use it for a post-surgery option for pain relief.'

Available online, SwissX contains CBD, which is one of around 110 active compounds in cannabis.

Unlike marijuana, SwissX does not contain plant byproducts and therefore has no tetrahydrocannabinol, which gives the drug its hallucinogenic effect, according to the product's website.

The oil is produced in the Swiss alps due to the growth of organic CBD-rich plants.

SwissX works on a similar principle to the cannabinoid-containing oral spray Sativex, which is approved for the treatment of muscle stiffness and spasm in MS patients in 11 countries, including Wales.
