Hi All,

A question for all -Do you Recycle potting medium?

I am using the growing medium from Botanicare - Slacker. After harvest can the Slacker (or other medium) be recycled for the next batch of plants? I could chop up the old roots , remove the big chunks and perhaps add some kelp, shell, etc.

Do you recycle soil/medium? How?

What other ammendments are used or needed?

Thanks for your comments!

Yes you can remove everything from the coco (roots etc) and add it to a compost bin. Then flush your coco well with ph neutral water and reuse it. Good idea, no need to waste.

I do re use my coco. I let it dry completely for a week, making it easier to break down the roots. Then I amend it with Worm Castings, Organic Trace Mineral (Azomite), Insect Frass & Xtreme Gardening Mykos. After all mixed up I flush it with a nutrient solution with about 350PPM and plants are good to be transplanted.
I used to do the same in soil, I would just amend with more goodies.
