Food dehydrator for curing?

Is it possible to use a food dehydrator (the nicer ones with lots of space and a wide range of temp / time settings) to dry a crop?

I just sold my Excalibur dryer without thinking it might come in handy for this. If it's possible it should be easy to construct a large "cabinet" version of one.

They are really simple - just a cheap heating element, thermostat and fan.

re: the thread title, you cant use that for curing but you can use it fordrying. It would be ok to dry in a humid climate, not really needed in a medium or drier climate imo. My dad used one, but only for one season, the hanging racks are so much easier.

You've waited this long, no need to rush things...
