Four Lawmakers Ask U.S. AG To Halt Raids

Four state lawmakers involved in crafting regulations for Colorado's booming medical-marijuana industry have asked the U.S. attorney general to halt raids on the industry for the time being.

In the letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, the lawmakers said federal raids of Colorado medical- marijuana businesses are complicating efforts to get industry input on new rules.

"These raids discourage dispensary operators, caregivers, growers and patients from providing testimony or recommendations to state lawmakers," the lawmakers wrote.

The legislators – Democratic Sen. Chris Romer and Rep. Beth McCann of Denver and Republican Sen. Nancy Spence of Centennial and Rep. Tom Massey of Poncha Springs – said they still support federal take-downs of illicit drug operations.
