There are ways to prevent you plants from coming up short, but a plant will never be more potent then it is genetically programed to be. High humidity will make it harder for the plants to form resin, so keep humidity low during flowering. Also, to much nitrogen will result in more veg. growth and make the plant concentrate less on trichome production.
Some growers also put there plants in 24-72 hours of darkness before harvest. The idea is that once the trichomes have begun to brown, light will only degrade them furthur. By turning the lights off for this period of time you can prevent this, and thus, keep the potency you were after.

thank R.R. i was just curious:
i see alot of plant with a shit load of crystals. i thought they did it thereself.
