Joe Rocket Hemp Jacket Review

Looking for a smokin' jacket? Okay, I'll try to keep the pot humor to a minimum. The Joe Rocket Hemp jacket is an interesting addition to the world of motorcycle gear. The use of hemp in applications requiring strength and durability is nothing new. Hemp has been used in ropes for years. It has also been a mainstay in traditional nautical sails.

Hemp's use in clothing applications is also common; however, its use in motorcycle apparel is relatively new. The Joe Rocket Hemp jacket is an attractive armored piece of apparel. It includes CE armor in the requisite locations in the arms and shoulders. It also includes (non-CE) armor in the back.

Like any good motorcycle jacket, it has both venting and insulating options. The venting seems adequate on all but the hottest of days, and hemp is naturally breathable (again, no pun intended). The vest liner is removable. The Hemp jacket is adjustable at the waist and sleeves.

What you really have here is an alternative to leather and synthetic textile. I would say that it looks to be much more protective than cotton, but substantially less protective than leather. The hemp jacket is available in black and sand, and olive and sand color schemes (sorry, no tie-dyed option). Sizes range from small to 3XL. Maybe you'd better order a size larger than usual, since many riders report they get hungry after wearing this jacket (couldn't resist).
