A new ban regarding medical marijuana goes into effect in Pismo Beach Thursday.
Last month, the City Council voted 4-1 to adopt an ordinance that would prohibit the cultivation and processing of medical marijuana. Mobile marijuana dispensaries are still allowed.
The mayor says this vote was a response to the California state law that would have put the regulations into the State's hands if a decision was never made.
Meanwhile, City officials in Atascadero say nothing is expected to change with their cultivation laws until the Planning Commission reviews them next month.
As of right now, a cultivation ban there takes effect next week.
