Supporters of medical marijuana aim to put a bill on Gov. Pawlenty's desk this session. A senate committee passed a bill by a vote of 8-3 this afternoon. Governor Pawlenty and many law enforcement agencies across Minnesota oppose the idea. Mike McGinnis works with area youths who face drug problems; he says state lawmakers are dabbling in a medical question that's best determined by organizations like the FDA. (5.12) Mike McGinnis says, 'is this truly a means that's going to be valuable, and is this the sole means by which we can accomplish this the same goal? And these are some of the questions about medical marijuana that have not been adequately answered, and again I think are being avoided by the means in which we're taking it through the state legislature.'13 states currently allow some form of medical use for marijuana.
