Little Rock, Arkansas - A group pushing to legalize medical marijuana in Arkansas will submit more than 110,000 signatures for its ballot initiative on Monday, officials say.

Arkansans for Compassionate Care made the announcement on Friday.

"Over the past two years, we've talked to tens of thousands of voters across the state," said Campaign Director Melissa Fults. "Most Arkansans agree it is time to give sick and dying patients safe and legal access to medical cannabis when their doctors think it's the best treatment option for them, and they will have the opportunity to do it this November."

Petitions are scheduled to be delivered to the Arkansas Secretary of State's office at 11:30 a.m. The signatures will then be verified.

The group needs 67,887 valid signatures of registered Arkansas voters to be placed on the November ballot.

Other groups seeking to legalize medical marijuana are still collecting signatures.
