MESA, Ariz. (AP) – Officials in Mesa are drafting rules for where marijuana dispensaries could be located in the city in case Arizona voters approve a proposal on Nov. 2 ballot that would legalize medical marijuana.
Proposition 203 would let cities regulate the shops but they cannot prohibit them.
The City Council on Thursday discussed getting the rules in place before the shops could open in March, but its members were hardly enthusiastic about it.
The ballot measure would allow an estimated 10 shops to open in Mesa.
The City Council expect to formally adopt the regulations in January.
