MotherHemp announce the launch of its new organic hemp "superfood" bar – "MotherHemp organic apple and cranberry bar." The healthy hemp seed, fruit and cereal snack bar that is seriously good for you! The bar priced at 59p ($.92) will be on sale in the UK from September 17th in all good health food stores and in Sainsbury's – ("well being" sections).
MotherHemp have formulated its organic hemp bar by carefully selecting the most nutritious part of the hemp seed – the soft inner core (shelled seed). This soft, shelled seed contains valuable hempseed oil and easily digestible protein.
"The nutritional qualities of hemp seed protein, and especially its EFAs, are positively good for you", says Dr Jace Callaway, at the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Kuopio University, Finland. "The MotherHemp bar really does offer healthy benefits as it contains 15% shelled hemp seed. It is packed full of nutrition, with significant amounts of the two EFAs; omega-3 and omega-6. If you're not getting eating enough fish, seeds and nuts in your diet then the chances are you're going to be EFA-deficient. EFAs are important for cellular growth, organ functions, and numerous biological functions throughout the body. We are unable to manufacture EFAs, which makes them vital as a dietary requirement."
The MotherHemp Bar also contains all 9 essential amino acids, which provide a complete protein source. The bars are dairy-free, low in saturated fat and free from artificial colourings and flavours.
Hempseed Oil Clinical Trials/Hemp Seed Nutrition
Clinical trials are now being carried out on hempseed oil to test claimed benefits for eczema sufferers. Previous trials demonstrated that hempseed oil produces significant increases in blood level of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA).
Hemp seed is considered by nutritionists to be one of the most complete sources of vegetable nutrition known to man. Hemp seed provides protein, minerals, vitamins and Essential Fatty Acids, all in a form easily digested by the body.
