Bend-based Oregrown Industries Inc. announced Tuesday that it plans to more than double the size of its marijuana dispensary in downtown Bend.

The expansion will increase the size of Oregrown's dispensary, at 1199 NW Wall St., from 650 square feet to approximately 1,600, according to the news release. Karynn Fish, a spokeswoman for Oregrown, said construction will begin in the next couple of weeks, and will likely wrap up by the end of January. She said the dispensary will stay open during construction.

Aviv Hadar, co-founder of Oregrown, added the expansion will allow the dispensary to cut its wait times and increase its product selection. He said the dispensary could be able to sell more than 100 strains after the construction ends, over twice what it currently offers.

Hadar said the company employs 45 people, including 23 at the dispensary. Once the store completes its expansion, it will be looking to double the staff working in the dispensary.
