The future of marijuana policy in the Oregon legislature is still unclear.
The Oregon Senate is now trying a different strategy to try to dislodge a bill that would create new regulations for medical marijuana.
Oregon Senate President Peter Courtney decided he'd had enough of a joint House and Senate panel after it met nearly 20 times and failed to pass a single piece of legislation. Courtney has now created a special Senate-only committee to deal with marijuana issues.
Any measure approved by the Senate would still have to go to the Oregon House for approval.
Lawmakers are examining Oregon's medical marijuana program in advance of July's legalization of recreational marijuana.
