It was no ordinary package that United Parcel Service delivered Monday to a home on Bromley Place.

Police say the parcel contained 40 pounds of marijuana and resulted in the arrest of two Fayetteville men.

Jonathan Dexter Canady, 29 and Rajesh Patel, 34, are charged with two counts each of trafficking in marijuana and conspiring to traffic in marijuana, said Jamie Smith, Fayetteville Police Department spokeswoman.

Canady, who lives at the house on the 1200 block of Bromley Place, also was charged with keeping a drug house.

Patel is listed as being homeless..

A police dog sniffed several packages at the UPS office at 3439 Black and Decker Road and alerted on the one addressed to the Bromley Place house, according to court documents.

Once the package was delivered, police raided the house and found at least 40 pounds more of marijuana, a set of scales and three cell phones, documents said.

Bail for Patel and Canady was set at $5,000 and $6,000, respectively.
