Police in Washtenaw County say they've arrested a man who was trying to steal $40,000 worth of marijuana from a facility licensed to grow it for medical use.

Pittsfield Township police say they got an alarm at 2:35 a.m. Thursday from a medical marijuana facility near Ann Arbor.

Police Deputy Chief Gordon Schick says arriving officers found a suspect trying to flee in a van holding the marijuana he'd taken.

Authorities say the burglar is from Livonia, but they aren't yet releasing his name.

Charges against him include burglary, possession of burglary tools and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
