Officers have uncovered a huge cannabis factory following a raid at a house in Northampton. Following information received from members of the public, officers executed the warrant at the property in Robinia Close, Briar Hill and discovered the entire house had been given over to the production of cannabis. One man, aged 27, was arrested on suspicion of the cultivation of cannabis and taken to Campbell Square Police Station for questioning.

Just last week officers in the north of the county discovered a hydroponics factory in Kettering as part of a week of action to mark Tackling Drugs Week. Pc Duncan Faulkner from the Delapre and Briar Hill Safer Community Team, said: "People in Briar Hill have told us they don't want drugs in their community and tackling the issue is one of our new priorities. We are determined to tackle the issue of drugs whether it be the cultivation or distribution of them and we are appealing for residents to tell us if they have any suspicions about people living in their area."

Officers are in the process of dismantling the hydroponics factory and are expected to be at the premises for the rest of the afternoon.
