MedMar Healing Center, a grassroots, community-based San Jose organization that specializes in medical cannabis, hopes to save lives and bring some fun back to community at the same time.
The organization has just announced a blood drive and family-friendly community event open to all with the goal of 100 volunteers to donate blood; enough to save the lives of approximately 300 people. This special event will feature a live band, race car showcase, great food, artists, arts and crafts exhibits and more on June 2nd.
MedMar Healing Center will have two 40 foot long mobile blood buses in front of their building for the donations. There will also be educational booths set up with different arts and crafts and an organic composting class.
Douglas Chloupek, a representative from MedMar, explains the importance of doing their part and reinvesting back into their community.
"So many people never experience the joy of giving. MedMar's staff, and members are setting an example by showing there is a greater reward in giving, than in receiving" said Chloupek. "This is why we are doing the blood drive, and this is why we are reaching out to other like minded individuals in our community. We invite everyone to join us for a fun filled day and help save a life. "
Community involvement has been an important part of the MedMar Healing Center since its founding in 2010. Since its opening, MedMar members and their staff have collected cans for Second Harvest Food Bank, raised funds for the Lymphoma and Leukemia Foundation, along with participating in the race itself, cleaned the local neighboring creek of debris, and are looking to become the 1st solar powered dispensary on the West Coast.
Those that want to participate in the blood donation drive do not need to schedule an appointment beforehand but can do so (if they wish) HERE (Make an Appointment - The Hero in You)
Acting as an easily accessible resource for Bay Area medical marijuana patients, MedMar Healing Center is centrally located in downtown San Jose, only blocks from the San Jose Sharks' home, HP Pavilion.
Close to major freeways and thoroughfares, MedMar is located near all the major public transit options, including Diridon Station.

MedMar Healing Center tests each of their strains of medicine for a Cannabinoid profile, which helps their knowledgeable staff recommend the best medicine for the diverse ailments of each client.
