Two men have been arrested in suspicion of producing cannabis with intent after two special constables noticed a smell of the drug while patrolling a South Yorkshire housing estate.
Special Constables Iona Edwards and Paul Carpenter were patrolling the Clough estate in Barnsley when they noticed the smell of cannabis drifting from a block of flats.
They knocked on every door until they tracked down the property the smell was coming from.
They searched a flat and arrested two men, aged 32 and 52, after finding 700g of cannabis.
Sergeant Darren Taylor, from South Yorkshire Police's anti-social behaviour team, said: "Not only did they initiate the arrests but they also led the interviews and seized the drugs."
