UCLA Study Shows Smoking Weed Does Not Cause Cancer

I know this is the Music Examiner and all, but here's a quick shout out to all my 4:20, Johnny Blaze metal friends out there in the world.

In a recent study conducted by our very own UCLA, they have shown that marijuana not only does not cause cancer, but actually prevents it! Spanning 1,212 cancer patients and 1,040 cancer-free controls, it has also proven that smoking marijuana along with tobacco places you in a lower risk group. Medical school professor Donald Tashkin noted that THC had an anti-proliferative effect that was observed in cell-culture systems and animal models of brain, breast, prostate, and lung cancer. It has also been shown to promote apoptosis (damaged cells die instead of reproducing) and to counter angiogenesis (the process by which blood vessels are formed –a requirement of tumor growth).

So there you have it! Smoke up and don't worry about the side effects because you are actually helping yourself. Pass this on to your fellow friends my bong brethren.
