Remember last spring we were told a pilot program was being tested in a few counties.. remember.. well..
San Francisco, CA - California health officials have suspended a program to issue identification cards to patients who smoke marijuana for medicinal purposes. The decision was announced Friday by State Health Director Sandra Shewry.
The move comes weeks after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that medical marijuana users could be prosecuted federally even in states with laws authorizing cannabis use for people with a doctor's recommendation.
Officials have asked the state attorney general to determine whether the state ID program would leave state employees open to prosecution for helping individuals commit a federal crime.
