Vail Mulls Pot Dispensary Regulations

Vail Town Council plans to consider regulations for medical marijuana dispensaries in town.

The town has not received any business license applications for medical marijuana dispensaries, but two different parties have asked about opening a dispensary, officials said.

A draft ordinance regulating dispensaries will come before the town's planning and environmental commission on Oct. 12. Opportunities for public comment will be available during the meeting, which begins at 2 p.m. at the municipal building, 75 South Frontage Road in Vail.

The ordinance would amend the town's zoning regulations to allow medical marijuana dispensaries in the Commercial Core II Zone District. The West Vail commercial area is presently zoned Commercial Core II.

Town council will consider the ordinance for first reading at its evening meeting on Oct. 20. There will be an opportunity for public comment.

A draft of the ordinance will be available for public review on or before Oct. 8 on the town's Web site at Town of Vail, Colorado.
