Wet soil vs dry soil

Hello my fellow Samaritans !
I am close to Harvesting and I have a good question when my soil is dry my buds go from hard to fluffy/sponge But wen my soil is nice and moist they go back to hard and dense ! So I was wondering is it better to harvest when the soil is moist instead of dry ? Input would be amazing thank you very much . Peace

When it's ready I leave it in the pot to use up all the remaining water in the plants, ie let it dry a bit for a day or two in the pot as this basically starts the drying process slowly - not remotely bothered about fan leaves starting to droop
The logic is, if 'm going to be drying it soon, no point filling her up with water before the chop?
