Good point to bring up. Before we moved in the daughters had their electrician go through every outlet, switch and circuit breaker. He found a wall outlet that someone had wired a box for 240, apparently for a large window air-conditioner. After taking the air-conditioner he replaced the 240 outlet with a 120 so that anyone else would think it was normal.
Probably the same landlord who installed an air-conditioner without putting the outside portion on a pad so by the time we moved in the unit had sunk several inches into the soil. No heating or cooling tech was willing to try to reposition it since the base was corroded beyond saving.
