Reader FYI: problem turned out to be over watering & a very bad idea, to add drainage holes ABOVE the bottom holes.

solution: never add drainage holes to a pot, anywhere but in the bottom, i drilled 3 holes, 2-3" above the bottom and almost killed my girl. long story, it's on page 586.
