BP Agents Seize 3,465 Pounds Of Pot

Border Patrol agents assigned to the Casa Grande station seized 3,465 pounds of marijuana, total value more than $1.7 million, in two incidents Thursday.

Agents working near Stanfield discovered a stolen pickup truck in the desert south of Interstate 8. Upon inspection, agents located 1,704 pounds of marijuana, valued at more than $852,000, inside the truck. The marijuana was seized and the truck was turned over to the Department of Public Safety.
In a second incident, agents followed tire tracks to a vehicle hidden in an obscure desert area. Agents discovered 1,761 pounds of marijuana, valued at more than $880,500, inside a 2006 Chevy pickup hidden under a tarp. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Goodyear, and was turned over to the Pinal County Sheriff's Office. The marijuana was seized.
