changing spectrums L8 in bloom

a buddy asked me to look at his garden and offer him info on why his bud was so airy (as i had given him a strawberry cough and silver haze)
he was 5.5 weeks into bloom with a 400 mh with an open batwing 3ft + from the canopy in like 22sq ft...
i told him to first confine the heat ,lower the light and then build a temporary wall to trap ALL the light ... then add some HPS .... i had an extra 150 layin around and offered it ....
the plants start to go herm in no time.....WTF... the two i gave were clones from FEMENIZED seed to begin with .... how do these fu#$ers go herm with no male gene even present??? and why did they?? the HPS??

Its not uncommon for fem seeds to produce hermies, its where most female seeds come from. If its not the environment it is the strain (unstable hybrid).
Its hard to say, do you still have the mothers?
