Cloning Question

Hey everybody... I have a basic question, that I havent been able to find an answer to pertaining to cloning a mother plant. I have read where you want to keep the mother in a vegatative state and clone off her. However, with someone like me starting from normal, not fem seeds, obviously the only way to know if it is a female is to put it into flowering 12/12. Once these start to show sex and a female is identified.. Can I take healthy clones? So I guess how does one identify a mother to keep in a veg state and clone from non-fem seeds.

Take clones once they have roots, put them in pots and wait a couple, 3 days. Then throw them under 12/12, 2 weeks later you know.

Ahh that makes sense.... take clones from the mother before you really know the sex, then determine sex of the mother based on what you see when you start to flower the clones... thanks!!
