Miss. - A 45-year-old Kiln man has been sentenced to 15 years for possessing seven pounds of marijuana.

Assistant District Attorney Crosby Parker tells The Sun Herald that Charles Elliott Necaise is among recent defendants in Hancock County Circuit Court who will qualify as habitual offenders if they have another brush with the law.

Sheriff's investigators testified they found the marijuana, worth $8,000 to $10,000, in Necaise's bedroom in April 2009.

Circuit Judge John Gargiulo sentenced Necaise on Friday to 25 years and suspended 10, leaving 15 to serve.
