Mold like substance

I all I had a purple fungas/mould on the top of the soil on a few of my ladies.

Is this normal?

Anybody know what it could be?

Not enough ventilation or pots not draining well. Could be by pots being root bound.

Thanks folks think its a ventilation problem. I've no pictures it hasn't happened again yet I'll take some if it happens again.
How can you tell if there root bound?

If its root bound it will just start dieing on you no matter what you do. If they're in 3 gallon pots they should be fine.
