Same strains?

The reason I ask is that it seems like I have seen the same strain by different breeders as I have started perusing the strains. If I find another example of this I'll show you.

A big one ive recently found out about was a guy who bred the strain Sweet Tooth in 98/99 and started putting it out there. Barneys farm got a hold of it and released it as their own strain. He hasnt made a penny off it yet it has won cups for barneys farm lol

If you think about it though and you get some seeds from breeder A named whatever grow it out and realise there was only like 2-3 plants out of 5 that you liked. So the next time you drop em you look for those phenos and stabilise them which could take quite some time. Now is it more unethical to keep it named as the same strain or rename it? Cos it is still those base genetics BUT you have taken the time to improve it and its better than the original. What do ya do? Lol here is the ethical conundrum!

You keep the name, but add a modifier like many have done with White Widow. Black Widow, G13 Widow, Widow Bomb, etc...

White Widow and Black Widow are exactly the same strain. White is Greenhouse, Black is Mr Nice Guy. A result of their split. The others are hybrids of Widow and not necessarily directly related.
