Second Grow - 1000W Veg - 4500W Flowering

Re: Second grow, 1000w veg, 4500w flowering

the leaf damage in your photographs looks like a rapid pH swing. the maximum amount of nutrients that can be used is determined by the root uptake of nutrients and the plants ability to use them, its is strain dependent. 1100 ppm without nutrient burning is good. some people go as low as 900 ppm to as high as 1500 ppm. i would consult your nutrients makers website for a nutrient feeding schedule. what is the exact name of the nutrient products you are using?

Hi, JC. thx for coming along, I am going with H&G coco full line without the magic green, feeding about 3/4 strength on base nutrients, and full does on additives, along with 1 ml/g bud candy and 2 ml/g kusher kush and some cal-mag when in flowering. the 1100 ppm has 200-250 from tap tho. feedig with 5.8 ph every 2 days while in flower, and 3 to 4 days in veg. never checked the run off ph, but should be in range most of the time. this PH swing thing happens sometimes, but never did any serious damage to any plants besides they looked ugly. Good to know what caused this, thx a lot :goodjob:

Hi bbk420.

I'd love to follow along in your journal as well. Thanks for sharing your grow with us all!

:thumb: thx for watching, Tan. hope I will have a sucessful grow on this run, and lets enjoy it together

Re: Second grow, 1000w veg, 4500w flowering

and the RO system is on the way, should be here in couple days. Once its get here, what ppm should I be giving to the plants? increase the base nutrients to make the ppm to 1100, or should I be lowering the ppm by 200-250, and keep the same feeding strength?

>>>Once its get here, what ppm should I be giving to the plants? increase the base nutrients to make the ppm to 1100, or should I be lowering the ppm by 200-250, and keep the same feeding strength?

Keep the ppm no less than 250 and no more than 600 in vegetative growth; and in flowering no less than 900 and no more than 1400 ppm.
I always start of with exponentially less strength than recommended on the label, and slowly increase at the pace of the plants needs.

In your case, with ph fluctuation, I say less is more for now ;) AG

thx, AG. that really cleared out my question : )

Re: Second grow, 1000w veg, 4500w flowering

little up date from the garden, a 13000 btu ac has been installed, but I only nocited a 1 degree drop for the room temp, not sure if all the electricity used by the ac would worth for the 1 degree temp drop
IMG_20130821_013022.jpg

other then that, I did notice lots of dead leaves at the lower branches, so I decided to give then a little lolipoping to give them more energy to focus on there top growth
before

after
IMG_20130820_060538.jpg

IMG_20130821_012843.jpg

still lots of lower growth left, because going to defoliate them within cuople days once they totally stopped strech to boost the yield

seems the bud start to pack on, and strech has slowed down a lot, 17 days into flowering

little update on the little girls as well, they received some haircut yesterday too
IMG_20130821_014258.jpg

and they all been topped for the second time, 16 days into vegging
IMG_20130821_014245.jpg

every nodes will be topped once they grow higher than others, wont be doing fiming on this run, because the nodes been topped look much healther and grow a lot faster then the nodes been fimed in last run

hope you enjoyed watching. more update will be coming in couple days

Re: Second grow, 1000w veg, 4500w flowering

flowering day 19
all plants seems stopped streching, so I thought this would be a good time to do defoliation
in order to make sure this technique doesn't have any negative effects, but really helps to build more bud, going to do a side by side comparison of 9 defoliated plants vs 7 untouched plants

defoliation in veg does help lower branches to grow faster and stronger
they all tied down with

super good combo to use with smartpot for LST( thx to the guy work in the hydro store :bravo: very nice recommondation)

Re: Second grow, 1000w veg, 4500w flowering

Looking good there bbk ;)
How strong are those Velcro straps, I've seen them online and didn't think velcro went well with plant stem hahaha!

I used them in late stage of last grow and it turns out really good, they are pretty strong and easy to use. but they have to be used with something like smartpot, so that they can stick on :thumb:

Re: Second grow, 1000w veg, 4500w flowering

some update for the grow
I did notice spider problems on many og the plants lately, so the side by side grow has been stopped, and all plants got defoliated

IMG_20130903_035124.jpg

and here is one plants that grows really slow
IMG_20130903_035141.jpg

more updates will be coming this weekend, and all the vegging plants will put into florwering as well
