If you reside in an MMJ State and are "clearly" within limits yes you can. I would advise not doing so unless you are 110% legal with NO warrants, outstanding tickets, or any small problem the police could turn into a major headache for you. What is to be gained by notifying police? Do you know who stole your property?
I have a friend with a house full of plants who called police about neighborhood kids stealing his plants in the yard. The police gave him some static about MMJ asking "how many plants do you have?" and "where are your Licenses?" He informed them he had 60 Plants (in RI many think 36 is the max) because he is Patient and Caregiver minus the plants stolen. The police recovered the plants but never returned them after arresting the thief. He now has cameras up outside and inside recording all movements and people that come near or into his home at a cost of $400. I am looking into placing cameras to protect my family and I from both Police and thieves.
