STG or hydroton with the Ebb?

Has anyone tryed the sure to grow medium with there ebb and grow..it seems great and ive heard alot of hype about the STG medium...anyone used this or perfer this over hydroton? i belive for a set of 12 of those stg inserts they run around 40-50$ any helpful info would be great thanks Hollander

I tried it in my DIY e&f. I found that the stg holds too much water toward the bottom of the netpot inserts. I rescued them by replacing them with good old rockwool cubes and hydrtron.

I'm using the stg 2 gallon inserts in my current grow. I have had no problem as of yet and I'm in my 6th week of flower. When I started off it took a minute to figure the flooding times because they do hold alot of liguid. I came up with 2 floods a day and its working.At first I wasnt sure about it either.I can honestly say I will continue to use them.If I figure out how to post pics I can show my grow with the inserts. I'm a proud dad of 12 church plants by green house seed.Anyway I would try them.

Congrats on working out the STG flood times. I never did and ended up switching them to hydrotron.

Now that they are big those STG should work extremely well.

I just finished with an ebb-n-grow and STG inserts. MostlyCrazy is correct about the water retention. There are a couple of tricks and tips for the bucket system. You can see the video's on STG website, or I posted them also in my grow journal.

Easiest setup and clean-up possible! Can't really say anything negative about my experience. I think I'm going to try STG "Hail" product on my next run.
