transplanting moist?

out of personal exp. would it be better to transplant while the soil is moist so it wont break up as easy or better off dry? One was transplanted dry and it broke up too much and almost lost it, but its doing somewhat good so far.

I like to transplant while moist. Not wet wet, just moist. Some people will tell you to transplant dry, but really I find it so much easier to transplant moist. I have never gotten transplant shock doing it this way. ;-)

Not bone dry but also not like mud.

One might say, a happy medium.
