King County sheriff's deputies seized nearly $5 million worth of marijuana from homes in Southeast King and Pierce counties this week.

The plants and processed marijuana, most of which is the highly-potent strain of BC Bud, were located after firefighters were called to a drug house for a reported medical problem, said King County sheriff's Sgt. John Urquhart. Investigators believe the drug houses are somehow tied to British Columbia.

Nine people, ranging in age from 25 to 54, were arrested. Three children found in two of the homes were turned over to Child Protective Services.

In addition to the drugs, deputies also confiscated about $250,000 cash.
