Two women were arrested for possession of over 200 pounds of marijuana, police said.

Police said officers had been conducting an investigation on the distribution of illegal narcotics at a home in the 200 block of Burbridge Road when the narcotic task force officers observed a vehicle leave the residence. Officers saw probable cause and initiated a traffic stop.

During the stop, the driver of the vehicle, who was identified as 30-year-old Christina Salazar, consented to a vehicle search.

Police said during the search, officers were alerted by a police K-9 of metal containers inside of the vehicle.

Inside the containers were 64 individually wrapped bundles of marijuana. Salazar then told officers that there was more marijuana at the Burbridge residence, police said.

After searching the residence, officers found an additional 192 bundles of marijuana concealed inside of several tires.

Magdalena Rivas, 41, was found at the home and arrested for her connection with the drugs, police said.

Police seized a total of 265.45 pounds of marijuana.

Both women were booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility and charged with possession of marijuana over 50 pounds.

They each had a bond set at $20,000.
