Making Cannabis E-liquid Using The Magic Butter Machine

About a month ago a good friend gave (sold) me an Openvape E-pen and a 1Ml Chem Kush E-liquid cartridge ($50 for each cartridge). It was love at first puff! I was about to embark on a road trip with my 84 year old father and it was perfect for the trip. I could suck on it all day with no odor and a constant buzz. It is perfect for my lifestyle and I could medicate at will without worry. In fact the thought of combusting weed actually repulsed me....... But all good things come to an end and after about 5 days of constant puffing the E-cartridge went empty. Here in NY you just can't buy the things at your local gas station (yet) and I reluctantly went back to smoking bud.

But I was hooked. I scoured the internet for days on end trying to find a way to make the elusive liquid. There are a ton of recipes and videos ou there and I almost bought a kit from some guys in Europe after watching their video, but my computer froze when checking out (Lucky!). Most of the stuff out there was very confusing but the common theme was infusing cannabis with vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol. Finally I decided on a recipe using The Magic Butter Machine.

I was/am growing now so I was going to earmark an ounce of my soon-to-be harvested White Widow for the job, but I was running low on weed so I picked up an ounce of an unknown strain. It was less than stellar so I said "F*ck it" and and decided to try out the recipe (yeah I got no patience).

OK here it is:

29 grams of weed (about 20 grams of hi-grade bud and 9 grams of sugar trim from the WW), 16oz of vegetable glycerin and....Decarb the weed

Add the weed and VG into the MBM and set it for 160 degrees and 8 hours. The original recipe called for 4 hours but the directions on the MBM stated that 8 hours produces a much stronger tincture in taste and potency so I figured that was a no-brainer.

The MBM is a truly cool device. It has awesome flashing neon-like lights and while there was no smell, it makes a ton of noise! There is no need to grind your weed as the MBM has an industrial grade blender built in and it kicks on every few minutes with a roar. After 8 hours, a series of loud beeps announce the end of the tincture cycle and the MBM has done it's job.

The MBM machine also comes with a 190 micron filter bag and "Love Glove"

I placed the filter bag in a Pyrex measuring cup and poured the weed/glycerin mixture into it. While the "love Glove" is heat resistant to 250f degrees, the 160 degree tincture didn't warrant it so I didn't use it to strain the tincture into the cup.

While the vegetable glycerin was only the first step in creating the e-liquid, it was a totally new experience for me! I was getting wasted just licking my fingers while cleaning the bowl! I transferred 8oz of liquid into 8 cobalt blue 1oz bottles

I dropper full under the tongue produced a mild buzz....2 was better:) Each dropper full was about 1 mil.

OK, now to complete the E-liquid recipe.....I added 50% propelyne glycol and mixed well. I immediately filled the Openvape cartridge (that said it was not refillable) and puffed.....Wow! It seemed as good as the $50 cartridges!! Was I dreaming? The next day I picked up a "Buck Naked" E-pen at (yes, really) my local gas station and spent the next day experimenting with flavor and glycol ratios.....I pretty much liked them all and most gave a nice all-day buzz. I'm still experimenting with different pens, but I have completely stopped smoking bud.

I now can make almost 16oz of E-liquid from one ounce of weed. 16 1oz bottles that have more than 29 1/2 milliliters.....It takes me about 2 days to kill 1 mil. so that's 2 months per bottle.....32 months worth of kick ass E-liquid for the price of a magic butter machine, $40 in supplies and one (almost) ounce of primo bud.

I'm speechless.....My life has changed!!
