barrie's hello winter 2020

We do love our walks - and the other day was quite beautiful, peaceful and thought provoking! We started our walk at the Southshore Center - definitely a loc...

My favorite memory from this walk. We stood under this tree for a few minutes - closed our eyes - and we were at complete peace listening to the wind gently rustle the leaves above our heads.

Looking East again along the lakeshore and the trail. We definitely need to get some great shots of the incredible sunrises and sunsets.

Along the trail there are numerous "fire bushes" - one of my favorites because they turn a spectacular bright red in the fall.

Just East of the Southshore Center we have the War Memorials. Now that I am older, it is a very solemn and humbling experience to read the names of people who gave their lives so we could live in a country of freedom - instead of a country of oppression and civil atrocities.

We started our walk at the Southshore Center - definitely a local favorite! They have a visitor's center, so if you come for a visit - pop in and get some great info on Barrie and the surrounding area!

Another great walk again - and this time, to another one of my favourite stomping grounds! We went along the trail just East of the "Tiffin Launch" on a pret...

And this is looking East down the trail. In the summer it's really peaceful to sit on the bench and play my 12 string acoustic guitar!

This is a great pic I took near the babbling brook. I like how the red berries look against the sky! Come for a visit in the summer and have a BBQ picnic with your family!

It's always beautiful along the trail. This is a little inlet we go into with the canoe in the summer! It is always packed full of ducks and geese that you can feed. If you decide to feed them, give them grain - not bread - too much bread is not nutritious for them.

We always see lots of dogs on our walks - and we love dogs! This is Koda - a service dog for her owner who has MS who just happens to be an advocate for medical marijuana.

Along the path, we can see the old train station across the road. They've recently restored it - and we can't wait until it opens - hopefully they will have some kind of nostalgic theme going on in there! What we really need is one of those really old steam engines.

Here's one of the big sculptures still kicking around from the Winterfest. It's huge - and stands about 3.7 meters (12' ) high and 6.0 meters (20' ) wide. They did a great job on it!

Barrie's Winterfest 2020 with the theme "The day the books came alive". And we had never seen this before - maple taffy made by cannabis supporters! I put the video to the song "Pour Some Sugar On Me" by Def Leppard - we love that song!

The Mrs had to get her maple cotton candy - great choice!

PCaddict was there too - what a surprise!

The kids loved the kites - and I nicknamed one of them Chemdawg of course :)
