Hammond IN. - An anonymous tip led Indiana State Police to seize 1,500 pounds of marijuana and arrest three men, two from Chicago.

Police noticed "suspicious activity" at the residence and several traffic stops of vehicles that left the residence were made by Hammond Police and State Police, according to a release from Indiana State Police.

Approximately 500 pounds of marijuana was seized from the traffic stops, Wojas said. She did not immediately know if the marijuana was seized from one or several stops.

This led to a search warrant for the residence and 1,000 pounds of marijuana was seized from the basement, the release said.

Wojas did not think a grow house was in the basement, but believed the marijuana was already bundled.

The estimated value of the marijuana is $1.2 million, the release said.

Santiago Barbosa, 48, of Chicago; Samuel Garcia, 20, of Chicago; and Juan Torres, 25, of Hammond, Ind. were arrested and charged with dealing marijuana over 10 pounds.
