Two Beaver County men were charged yesterday in the sale of marijuana at a state liquor store.

Pete Maravich III, 50, Conway, and James Bozza, 53, Ambridge, were charged with one count each of possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver and conspiracy.

They were arraigned before Beaver Falls District Justice C. Douglas Loughner. Maravich was released on $25,000 unsecured bond and Bozza on $10,000 unsecured bond, said Nils Frederiksen, deputy press secretary for state Attorney General Jerry Pappert. A preliminary hearing was set for Monday.

The charges relate to an alleged sale of marijuana in June at a state Wine and Spirits store in the Northern Lights Shopping Center in Economy. Maravich was an assistant manager at the store, Fredericksen said.

Pappert said an undercover agent from his office gave Bozza $1,100 in the shopping center parking lot. Bozza then went inside the store and met with Maravich.

Bozza then left the store carrying a box with a half-pound of marijuana inside, Pappert said.
