Anyone use "shower pan" liner as water proof?

I have my box pretty much built, but I am concerned about water leaking out of the bottom of the box during watering/feeding.
I bought a roll of "shower pan' liner from Lowes which is designed to go underneath tile, backer board/cement as a vapor barrier.
It is rubber like sheeting made from PVC, and it actually looks and feels a lot like pond liner material.

My question is this: Will it harm the plants in any way?
I have no idea if it gives off PVC gasses or whatever so was really hoping that someone has used it with success and I have nothing to worry about.

I am doing a soil grow and really just want to make sure no water gets out of the bottom of the box and ruins a floor.

My idea was to install it in the bottom of my grow box much like a drain pan would reside.

P.S. I have mad air flow into and out of this box covered with 3 fans.
1 6" inline duct fan for the light tube, 1 inline 6" duct fan for intake air and one 6" centrifugal fan for exhaust.

Anyone?
