Arkansas voters could see two medical marijuana initiatives on the ballot this November.

The group Arkansans for Compassionate Care says they now have more than the 68,000 signatures needed to get the issue on the ballot.

A different ballot title, "Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment of 2016," is being circulated by attorney David Couch.

Couch, who wrote the title, says, "Over the four years, people's attitudes toward marijuana -- medical marijuana especially -- has changed, so I think it will pass on its own."

Couch says polling after the 2012 election showed most people disliked the aspect of growing the drug at home and want to make sure medical marijuana isn't abused.

"Just like Sudafed and other drugs, the Department of Health will have a database set up so when you take your card and you go buy medical marijuana at dispensary A, it's entered into that database so the patient can't go to dispensary B and get anything else," Couch says.

He compares this amendment to ones currently in place in Massachusetts, New Mexico, and Illinois which only allow medical use, not recreational.

Couch adds, "On the ballot this time is medical marijuana and the people in the state of Arkansas can vote on that and if they vote to approve that, then it will only be medical marijuana."

Under this amendment, there would be 15 conditions doctors are allowed to prescribe medical marijuana for.
